Easter

Today's Wonderful Wednesday Craft with Cutters challenge theme is Easter.

I don't have any Easter themed cartridges for my Cricut, so I decided to design my card using other cartridges.

Using the Cricut Class Room, I set up my bottom layer then added other elements in layers to design the card.

The scalloped border across the card was done by  joining scalloped borders together (Plantin Schoolbook) and cutting them. I punched holes in the top layer to thread the ribbon through.

For the words, I used the frame from Accent Essentials and added the words using the letters from the Songbird cartridge. I really need to use this one more often as it welds together beautifully. I welded one set of the letters together and added it to the frame, then made another set to cut in a different colour to highlight the words.

To finish it all off, I punched the corners of the bottom layer using a dragonfly corner punch, then added it to the card base. I added sparkle to the words using Kindi Glitz.

Birdhouses

Over the last couple of weeks, I have been making little birdhouses for Easter gifts for the family.

I used the small birdhouse file from the SVG Cuts set - Spring Birdhouses.
It took ages to cut everything out 13 times over, then I had to put them all together as well!

Finally, yesterday I finished them all, just in time to give some to our UK friends who have been with us for the last few weeks on holiday.

I will put shredded yellow paper inside the boxes then load them up with Easter goodies - some of which I bought today!!

If you like these, click on the link in the sidebar to go to SVG Cuts to buy the files.

Enjoy Easter!

Spring!

This week, the theme for our challenge on CWC at My Paper Crafting is Spring.

Well spring is coming to you all in the northern hemisphere, but autumn is definitely here in New Zealand. Having had a spectacular summer, we are now heading quickly into autumn with the temperatures having dropped quickly over the last few days.

I used the Art Nouveau cart for this card. I love the images on this cart and I really need to use them more often.

I also used the same cart for the lettering on the card.

Please join us this week for our challenge. It will run for 2 weeks.

Happy Birthday!

Last weekend, an old schoolfriend celebrated her 60th birthday, so I made this card for her.

I cut the card and its layers using SCAL2 and my Cricut. I embossed the top layer of the number to add some texture.

The flowers were cut from patterned paper using the Sizzix Decorative Strip Tattered Garland Die, then inked with Victorian Velvet distress ink to add some depth. They were layered together and finished off with pearl bling dots.

The butterfly (from Gina K) was stamped using a kiss technique with Tumbled Glass and Faded Jeans distress inks. I cut the butterfly out and added glittery bling to accent the body. I attached it to the card using foam tape.

Irish

With St Patrick's Day coming up, it seems appropriate that this week's Wonderful Wednesday challenge at CWC is Irish Eyes are Smiling.

The Cricut Craft Room this week has the Spring Holiday Cards digi cartridge free this week so I chose to make my card using this.

I first downloaded a shamrock background paper that I printed onto light card for cutting the background layer and the shamrock for the top layer.

The words and shapes of the heart and shamrock were cut out of the white layer and I added green and red card behind them so they stand out a little better.

I cut an extra shamrock in the background paper to layer on the top.

To finish, I added a green ribbon across the bottom of the card.
