A New Challenge

The theme for the challenge over at Paper Crafting World this week is vacations. What better way of spending one's vacation than at the beach?

I used Melin's Playing in the Sand cutting files to create this scrapbook layout. If you have been following my blog for the past couple of years, you will know that I don't do scrapbooking, but I decided to give it a go for this week's challenge!

The sand coloured pieces were all cut from Bazzill Bling and were edged with pumice stone distress ink before layering them up together.


The little girl bear was cut from Bazzill Basic (Pinecone) and edged with vintage photo before putting together.
All the elements were cut with the Cricut Expression using SCAL2.

PCW Challenge - Wedding theme

The theme for the challenge over at Paper Crafting World this week is Weddings! And wow - this also coincides with my 200th post on my blog!

I found this neat cutting file created by Melin here. I cut the card from white cardstock then cut the layers from pink bazzil cardstock. The decorations on the cake were cut from a deeper shade of pink and I added Kindi glitz to make them sparkle before I attached them to the cake!

I added some pearl strips from Kaiser across the middle layer of the cake to add some extra dimension.

The base of the cake has been embossed with silver embossing powder - I did it a couple of times to add some extra shine. I then added some silver peel-off strips across the very bottom of the base.

The sentiment stamp is from Montarga and I stamped it then cut the fancy tag using a spellbinders die in my Cuttlebug.

Creating again!

I was having a browse through some of my Craft Stamper magazines recently when looking for inspiration. I found a great banner project that looked like something I could do as I had most of the basic materials needed to complete it.

This is what I came up with:




I used:
Grunge board letters; distress inks; buttons; pen nibs (rescued when cleaning out my parent's house); die cut cogs, glassine paper flowers, key, rosette and bird; old music paper for the frills; lace; chain; eyelets; alcohol ink, a wire heart shape; metal embellishments; Glossy accents; Stampers Anonymous stamp sets.














I really enjoyed doing this project.

Paper Crafting World Weekly Challenge

At this time of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, schools are finishing their academic year, and it is time to say thank you to the teacher!

For my project, I used the Bookworm and apple digi stamp from PCW here to make the image. I printed it twice then coloured it with Copic markers. I cut selected parts of the image to layer - the head part of the bookworm and the leaf on the apple. I added glossy accents to the eye glasses of the bookworm to make the eyes stand out a little.

For the words, I used the wording that came with the image and made it into a cutting file using SCAL2, welded the letters then cut them from green card. I embossed the words using embossing ink and clear embossing powder. The image and words were then layered onto white card that I had embossed with the Swiss Dots folder in the Cuttlebug then rounded the corners. This was then layered onto a red card.

Our theme for today is Tiaras or Crowns!

I thought this digital image - King of my Heart  from PCW was just so cute - and it had a crown  - so it fitted this challenge so well!

I coloured the image with Copic markers then cut it out. I added Kindiglitz to the crown and the rose.

I layered the image onto two label dies that I cut, embossed and inked with distress inks.

The corner pieces and the tag for the sentiment were cut using the Moroccan Accents Shapeabilities dies. I added a stamped sentiment from my favourite Hero Arts words set and attached the tag to some brown ribbon before adding it to the card.

I made the card base from kraft card and edged it with vintage photo distress ink after rounding the corners.

Our theme for today is Pearls and this is how I interpreted the theme!

I downloaded the lovely QT Patootie Tweenz Tori image from PCW and coloured her with Copic markers. I stamped around the image with the Dune Dots stamp designed by my friend Sue, available from The Treasury . I cut the image with a labels die and mounted it on a larger die cut that I embossed with my Cuttlebug.

On the card base, I folded half the front back (outwards) to create a more 3D looking card. I stamped the folded part with Perfect Medium using a flower background stamp, then brushed it with perfect pearls to create a flowery, shimmery background.

The sentiment is from a Gina K stamp set and I cut it with a small labels die and backed it with a slightly bigger die cut from black card. I attached this with foam dots to the front of the card.

For the inside, I cut another labels die from white paper and stamped it with another sentiment stamp from Gina K.

Our theme for today is All things Girly and this is what I created!

I wanted to make a slightly different label-shaped card for this one, so I made a large label and cut it using my Black Cat, then folded it in half. I cut small holes along the edges of the front piece for the ribbon to thread through. I added some white lace to the edge of the front of the card and threaded a narrow white ribbon through the holes.

I printed Melin's lovely BC Bear Princess sitting file and coloured it with my Copic markers. I added some bling to the tiara as well as KindiGlitz, which I added to the heart shape on the stick as well. I cut the image out using a spellbinders labels die, embossed it then added spun sugar distress ink while it was still in the die. This leaves a lovely white edge on the die cut shape. I attached the image to the top of the card so that half of it is above the fold in the card.

I printed the sentiment from the digi stamp and cut it out, then attached it to a fancy tag (Spellbinders) which I placed on the card below the image. To finish off the card, I added a white bow to the bottom of the card and some pearls to the corners of the image and the sides of the tag.
