Family Easter Eggs

I meant to post this some time ago - at Easter, but with travel and other things, it slipped my mind until today.

These are the Easter Eggs I made using svg files from SVG Cuts. I made one for everyone in the family, including little Eilidh - who had an easter bunny in hers instead of sweets because she is a little young to be eating chocolate!

I did the labels with the Black Cat and Funtime software. I printed the words with a gold pen in the cutting head instead of a blade housing, then I cut them out. I had not done this before and was very pleased with the result, so will be doing more of this, methinks!

I had a lot of fun making these!

Terrific Tuesday Die Cut or Stamp Challenge - Mother's Day

The theme for the Terrific Tuesday Die Cut or Stamp Challenge over at Paper Crafting World this week is Mother's Day, which is coming up very soon!

For this card, I chose the Basket with Flowers cutting file, which I made into a card using SCAL2. I welded together two of the base basket shapes and cut them, then cut another basket shape for the front of the card. I added texture to the basket and flowers by running them through the Cuttlebug using various folders. I also edged the various cut shapes with distress inks to make then stand out!

The stamp is from Montarga, a local company based in Christchurch, NZ.

Tags I did with Hilda - updated!

I have now added the finishing touches to the tags I did with Hilda when I visited her in the UK a couple of weeks ago.

I have not changed the tag on the left as I was happy with the way it came out. I added some crackle paint to the bird as well as a little black bling dot for the eye. I also added some distress stickles to the branch the bird is standing on.

I attached a metal flower and leaves to the bottom of the tag. Both of the tags are inspired by Tim Holtz' 12 Tags of 2012.

Hilda went to a class with Hels Sheriden who is a designer and contributor to the Craft Stamper magazine. She had done this tag and folder at the class and thought I would enjoy doing a similar one. This picture shows the finished folder with the tag inside it.

The picture below shows the folder open, with the tag sitting on top of the folder.

This was a fun project to do and I am so grateful to Hilda for allowing me some of her precious time to be with her and for sharing very generously the materials and the lovely goodie bag that she gave me, filled with lots of lovely crafty things including lace, fibres, a little star box to decorate, stamped images, tags (lots of them!) paper napkins and die cuts. Thanks so much Hilda!

Reminder April Showers Challenge

This reminder card for the current challenge over at Paper Crafting World was made using the Bears under Umbrella digi stamp which I coloured using copic markers.

I cut the image using a circle die and layered it on a yellow circle.

The card was made using a scalloped circle die and topped with a black scalloped circle to which I attached the layered image.

The sentiment is from the same image which can be found here at PCW. I cut this with a fancy tag die from Spellbinders and attached it at the bottom of the card.

I entered this one at the Paper Creations Ink Blog as well because their theme related to April Showers!

Some new stash

Well, this travelling has been great. Over the last two weeks I have been in England, Scotland and the USA. Of course, the craft shopping is great and things are generally quite a bit cheaper than in New Zealand.





This is some of the stuff I bought at the Craft Barn and Blade Rubber Stamps in England. I also bought some stuff at Michael's and Joann's in Los Angeles. Can't wait to get home to try it all out.

When I went to "play" inky stuff with Hilda, I made some tags. They are not quite finished but here is what they look like at the moment:

April Showers

This is my take on the April showers theme for the PCW challenge this fortnight.

The image is a digi stamp (Bears under umbrealla)  from PCW which I coloured using copic markers.

I cut the image using a spellbinders labels die and layered it on a larger black card cut with a die from the same set.

The sentiment is from the same digi image which I cut using a tags die from Spellbinders.

The background layer was cut from red card and embossed using the cuttlebug.

Meeting Friends

Today I spent the afternoon with a new friend - Hilda from the Lots to Do Forum.

To celebrate our meeting, I made her a little something to hang in her craft room. Hilda is a keen crafter with inky stuff as well as a sewing enthusiast.

This was cut using the Black Cat Cougar and some new files from SVG Cuts.
